Mothers are unique, not only because they have given us life, but because they give us their life every day of our lives. Without them, we would not have become what we are today.
Being a mother is a wonderful gift of life
They take care of us, they protect us, they help us grow, they tell us the truths that hurt, but they are also the only ones who make us smile when others fail to do so.
Being a mother doesn’t just mean changing diapers, warming bottles or fighting with purees.
That is just the beginning, the moment when a mother realizes that she is capable of doing anything for a world to which she has given life. That world is that child in which there are millions of illusions…
It means having a reason to be for the rest of your life.
Wanting to take advantage and squeeze every moment to the fullest. Having mixed feelings when you see how your children grow up, feeling joy and nostalgia when they advance taking giant steps through life.
A mother’s sincere love
If there is a love that we can call true, it is the sincere love of a mother, a love that is both eternal and infinite.
In reality, being a mother implies following in the footsteps of the little masters, the children, until they grow up. Just by existing and without knowing it, children teach them to love unconditionally.
Being a mother means never again being alone in thought, because a mother always thinks twice: for her children and for herself.
A mother feels tremendously fortunate because she knows that her children are the greatest treasure she could ever have.
Motherhood does not mean smiling all the time, but also crying her eyes out. It requires many sleepless nights melting into the pillow in a suffocating embrace.
It means endless worries; hours of running after your children; days, months and years inventing hundreds of ways to camouflage vegetables and fish; putting up with fights and tolerating with all the patience in the world the endless nonsense that life has.
A mother’s sacrifice
Mothers also live their guilt with the greatest terror known to man. Feeling guilty and responsible for the problems of the person you love most in this world is tremendously painful. That is why a mother carries too much baggage on her back. Perhaps this is a heroic act, but above all it is generous.
Probably sacrificing her goals, her aspirations or her life for her children does not make a mother a brave being, but it does make her the most tenacious and generous person in the world.
The nights when her children wake up with fever, facing the world and overcoming all fears, pulling her children through and protecting them in the first place is what makes mothers the best example of courage and love.
