In Washington DC, teenagers between 12 and 17 years old are offered a pair of AirPods if they get their first shot. All this to encourage them to get vaccinated.
Beer, donut, AirPods… these giveaways to encourage Americans to get vaccinated
It’s all well and good to encourage Americans to get vaccinated, as the southeast of the country, Florida in particular, is experiencing a new outbreak by the Delta variant, which now also affects minors.
The latest example is quite telling in this regard.
In Washington, DC, the are teenagers aged 12 to 17 years are now offered a pair of AirPods (limited stocks), or a voucher for 51 dollars (43 euros), who receive their first shot.
In addition to these popular Apple headphones, these teens can also try to win a $25,000 purse or an iPad.
Parents have not been harmed so far. If they take their children to vaccinate at one of the three public schools in the capital, they can also get a voucher.
An original operation carried out by the mayor of Washington DC, and announced on Saturday on Twitter.
Starting today at 10 am, DC youth (12-17) who get vaccinated at:
📍Brookland MS
📍Sousa MS
📍Johnson MSWill receive AirPods with their first shot and a chance to win a:

Free doughnut or beer
Initiatives of this type have been multiplying in the United States for several months, either by administrations or by the companies themselves.
The Krispy Creme restaurant chain is offering a free donut to every customer who has received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.
And this daily, all over the country, until the end of the year.
Same in New Jersey, where the state is offering you a beer , at a partner brewery, if you can attest to having received at least one dose of serum. “We won’t be afraid to try new things,” the governor assured in early May at the launch of this operation called “Shot and a Beer”.
Among other initiatives, a $1.5 million lottery is being organized in California and some local authorities, such as Maryland or New York, are promising $100 to anyone who comes to get vaccinated.
But the most original operation undoubtedly goes back to the state of Washington, in the northwest, which promised until mid-July that each new vaccinated person would leave with…a joint of marijuana.
