A baby was the sole survivor of an Israeli airstrike in Gaza City that killed at least 10 members of his family, mostly children, early Saturday morning.
Baby survives Israeli airstrike that killed 10 family members
It was the deadliest hit since the battle with the militant Hamas rulers in Gaza, which erupted earlier this week.
The baby’s father, Mohammed Hadidi, said his wife and five children were celebrating the Eid Al–Fitr vacation with relatives.
They and three of the children aged between 6 and 14 were killed, while an 11-year-old boy is missing.
Only his six-month-old son Omar is known to have survived.
Hadidi said his wife, whom he identified as Suhaib, and sons Suhaib, 14, Abdul–Rahman, 8, and Wissam, 6, were killed immediately.
The baby was transferred to Gaza’s Al–Shifaa hospital, where he underwent a leg fracture and the wounds he sustained in the attack.
His siblings and other relatives who were killed later stayed at the hospital funeral for the burial.
Since Monday night, Hamas has fired hundreds of rockets into Israel, which has hit the Gaza Strip with attacks.
At least 126 people have been killed in Gaza, including 31 children and 20 women; seven people have been killed in Israel, including a 6-year-old boy and a soldier.
