The C-130 military aircraft was carrying troops from Cagayan de Oro, Mindanao, to Sulu province when it lost its runway on Jolo Island.
The plane, which was carrying more than 90 military personnel and crew, crashed in nearby Patikul at 11:30 local time Sunday (11:30 p.m.

“Minutes after the crash, troops and civilian volunteers rushed to the scene to conduct search and rescue efforts. Images of the crash show a large plume of smoke rising through palm trees into the sky.
