An angry mob allegedly ran over a 41-year-old Utah man with a car and then beat him to death Monday.
It all happened after they were told he had hit his girlfriend and gave her a black eye.
A group of at least six people have been accused of grabbing Fred Valdamar Ortiz behind a Smith’s grocery store in Magna, Utah, on Monday and beating him to death.
Ortiz’s girlfriend is a dog breeder and the group was at her home looking for a puppy when she told them he had hit her and gave her a black eye a few days earlier.
Police say Ortiz drove by on a scooter while the group, which included a 13-year-old boy, was at the house. The group ran out of the house and chased him.
A member of the group told police that Osyeanna Maria Martinez, 19, was driving the car used to chase Ortiz, and allegedly hit him with her Volkswagen Beetle.
Ortiz, however, kept running, but his assailants eventually caught up with him again, at which point they began beating him with a stick while he was on the ground.
Surveillance footage from a nearby restaurant showed Martinez throwing two boards at Ortiz’s back and head.
Unfortunately, police only identified one of the other suspects by his full name, 18-year-old Xandre Sky Hill.
There are apparently three other suspects involved in the incident.
