An 8-foot alligator was euthanized after it critically injured a woman

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission was called to a pond located in Pinellas County after a woman was attacked by an alligator while she was walking her dog.

The 43-year-old woman was walking very close to the edge of the pond when the approximately 8-foot reptile lunged out of the water and went straight for her pet.

The woman was able to pull her pet away from the alligator’s mouth, but as it attacked, she was lucky enough to slip and fall to the ground.

The aggressive animal while attacking bit her lower leg, leaving her seriously injured.

She was then taken to a nearby hospital and had to be treated for her injuries and a hunter was immediately called so that the alligator could be killed.

At this point, the reptile had become a nuisance animal, and that meant it could not be relocated.

The hunter pulled the reptile out of the water and took it to the back of a truck where it was removed so that the culling could begin.

Unfortunately, because someone feeds the crocodile and teaches it to go to shore and not be afraid of humans, the law is to euthanize it so that it will not happen to another human in the future.
