Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings to cost $465 million. The long-awaited fantasy series is “the biggest TV series ever made” and its cost is set.
Amazon’s Lord of the Rings season 1 to cost $465 million
Amazon’s Lord of the Rings TV series will cost $465 million (£336 million) for the first season alone, according to Hollywood Reporter reports.
Stuart Nash, the Minister of Economic Development and Tourism in New Zealand – where the show is about to be filmed – speaks.
“It’s fantastic, this really will be the biggest TV series ever made.”
“If you are looking for a benchmark to measure. Game of Throne cost about $100 million per season.”
That should also be a reminder that pumping more money into a TV series doesn’t always guarantee it’s going to do well.
Also, this first issue for the first season may just be a result of the fantasy world they are created to create.
These expenses also alleviates a huge tax refund from the New Zealand government, which has caused controversy as a government – it is claimed – thanks to the Amazon series in connection with the hook.
The official description of the show is: “The Lord of the Rings brings for the first time the heroic legends of the second central age of Middle-earth history.”
“In this epic drama set thousands of years in the past, before the events of Jr Tolkien’s The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, and viewers are taken back to a time when great powers were forged, kingdoms could rise and ruin for fame, unlikely heroes awaited from the finest yarns, and the greatest villain ever finished by Tolkien’s pen threatened to cover the entire world in darkness.”
“Beginning in a time of relative peace, the series follows an ensemble of characters both familiar and new as they confront the much-feared replacement of evil to Middle-earth.”
