A woman’s throat was slit by a homeless man she let into her house to take a shower
Officers went to the victim’s apartment after receiving a call around 5 p.m. on Sunday, February 6, alerting them to the presence of a “woman who was bleeding profusely,” according to the Salt Lake City Police in a statement.
The victim, whose identity has not been released by police, was transported to a local hospital, where she underwent emergency surgery. Following surgery, her condition was critical but stable and there have been no updates on her health at this time.
The woman herself told police that she let the suspect, whom she described as homeless, into her home to take a shower. Salt Lake City Police Detective Michelle Mechling explained that it is unclear whether or not the victim knew the man.
The suspect, 30, is named Eric Jones and was arrested about two miles from where the woman’s throat was slit early last Friday. He was booked into the Salt Lake County Metro Jail on charges of aggravated assault. Police are continuing their investigation.
