Rosemond Brown, a Ghanaian actress professionally known as Akuapem Poloo, will go to jail for uploading a nude artistic photograph with her son to congratulate him on his seventh birthday.
A woman will go to prison for uploading an artistic nude photograph with her son
The woman, 32, uploaded to her social networks a photograph with her young son last June 2020 to congratulate his seventh birthday. The image was an artistic photograph in which mother and son look into each other’s eyes while holding hands and in it, the woman comes out unclothed.
Ghanaian officials have charged her with domestic violence and publication of obscene material. The judge ruled that “a stiff sentence will serve as a deterrent,” since “the court is disturbed by the publication of nude photos on social media,” she says.
“There is no doubt that, apart from rape, defilement, physical assault, the publication of obscene material is on the rise,” she sentenced, according to New York Post.
A court has upheld the sentence, saying it is not excessive
The sentence sentencing him to three months in prison was known a few months ago, but the woman appealed. Now, the Superior Court has confirmed the sentence, assuring that it is not excessive.
Faced with the decision of the court, the woman has shared a message to her son on her social networks, asking him to be strong until she can return from prison: “Son, I love you and God is with you always. Be good until mommy comes back,” she wrote.
She has also taken advantage of her Instagram account to thank everyone for the support received despite the sentence:
“Thank you all for your love and support, especially the media and celebrities who continue to show their love and support”.
