A 19-year-old Markham man is facing multiple charges and a woman is recovering in the hospital after being assaulted multiple times during a date with a man she met on Tinder.
NYPD said sometime Monday that they were called to a sexual assault incident.
They have reportedly announced that a woman was found while suffering “significant injuries” and was immediately transported to the nearest hospital for treatment.
The investigation revealed that the victim met her assailant on the dating app Tinder.
The victim, went to the suspect’s home on Kennedy Road and was allegedly struck with a weapon several times and sexually assaulted.
The suspect then allegedly took the victim out of her home with the intention of obtaining money and handing it over to him. But fortunately, the woman was able to free herself from him and call for help by calling 911.
On Tuesday, at 1:30 a.m., police raided the man’s home and arrested him. The man, who is so far under investigation, was apparently carrying a fake identity on the Tinder account and was identified as Masseiah Issac Ireland.
The 19-year-old was charged with sexual assault with a weapon, extortion, forcible confinement and aggravated assault.
Police say Ireland went by the name “Jalen” on Tinder and claimed to be 28 years old.
