A video captured a man in Brooklyn trying to rob someone, but his efforts to mug the passerby were thwarted because his pants fell down.

NYPD Crimestoppers used their Facebook to upload surveillance footage of the July 12 incident, showing the attempted robbery and the victim already compromised as the culprit knocks him to the ground while trying to snatch something from him.

However, the robber stumbles and his shorts slip over his knees as he struggles with the victim, who refuses to hand over her belongings.

The robber can be seen dragging the victim (who has not been named) down the sidewalk in front of a store as his shorts continue to slide down to his ankles.

The mugger eventually falls to the street.

In the midst of this, the mugger is still clinging to the property he is trying to take. When he gets back up, some bystanders come out of the restaurant to try to pull the man away from the victim.

According to The Daily Mail , NYPD 72nd Precinct officers, the attempted robber left the scene in a white van heading south.

EMS transported the victim to NYU Brooklyn Langone Hospital, where he was treated for cuts to his knees, back and elbows.

His condition is stable.

The incident came at a time when violence persists in New York City, where robberies increased approximately 16% in the last month compared to the same period last year.
