A reporter asks at the Oscar gala what Brad Pitt smelled like
Yuh-Jung Youn made history by winning best supporting actress at the Oscars on Sunday, becoming the first South Korean actress to take home an Oscar in an acting category.
The 73-year-old actress won for her portrayal of an eccentric grandmother in Lee Isaac Chung’s family drama “Minari.”
After the gala, a reporter in the awards press room asked Youn what Pitt smelled like. Youn laughed and quickly replied, “I didn’t smell it. I’m not a dog. No”.
He went on to say that he has admired Pitt’s work for many years, and that he “couldn’t believe it” when it was announced that he had won the award.
“What am I supposed to say, where am I, or something, do you understand what I’m trying to say. I still don’t get the idea.”
As he withdrew the award, he turned to the actor, laughed and said, “Where were you, when we filmed personally? ” Youn seemed to interpret that Pitt did not attend the “Minari” while the film was in production in Tulsa, Oklahoma, 2019.
Youn paid tribute to fellow best actress nominees Glenn Close, Amanda Seyfried, Olivia Colman and Maria Bakalova.
