A nine-year-old girl was allegedly shot in the head May 15 at her friend’s birthday party in the 2200 block of Ilion Avenue North.
A nine-year-old girl who was shot in the head in north Minneapolis has died
“For the past 12 days she fought for her life and today the fight ended,” said Minneapolis police spokesman John Elder. “At 4:04, he passed away at the hospital.”
Trinity was one of three children shot in the head in north Minneapolis.
On May 15, Trinity was jumping on a trampoline with other children when a bullet struck her in the 2200 block of Ilion Avenue North.
“Our officers who showed up at this scene with the nine-year-old girl critically wounded in the head knowingly violated policy by lifting this child, to save her life,” Elder said.
Last week, six-year-old Aniya Allen died after being shot on May 17 while leaving a McDonald’s lunch.” Aniya was the granddaughter of veteran peace activist KG Wilson.
Ladavionne, remains in critical condition in the north of the hospital.
Ten-year-old Ladavionne Garrett, Jr. was shot April 30 while riding in a vehicle with his parents.
The children’s family and community leaders have called for an end to the gun violence and for the leaders responsible to come forward.
There is a $30,000 reward for information to solve all three cases. Elder said gun violence is “off the charts” in Minneapolis compared to recent years.
