A cherished memory
Daniel Langer, who was just two years old when the tree was planted, reflects on its significance for his family. “This was planted in 1994,” he recalls. “I don’t remember it being planted, but that’s when my sister got this tree from Grade 3.
We planted it in our backyard, and it’s been here ever since.” The tree has become a symbol of family memories and holiday cheer, representing a connection to their past.
From backyard to downtown
The journey of this beloved spruce tree took a special turn when city crews carefully cut it down and transported it to its new location.
Using a crane, the tree was loaded onto a flatdeck, ready to take its place in the festive celebrations. According to Langer, this transition is inspired by a heartwarming story from Tennessee Ernie Ford, which suggests that every tree planted aspires to become a Christmas tree.
“So this tree my sister was given gets a chance to be a Christmas tree that every tree deserves to be,” he explains.

The official unveiling of the tree will take place on Thursday, with city crews working diligently to ensure it is beautifully decorated.
