A California family is asking for help to bring home three of their loved ones who died unexpectedly while on vacation in Mexico.
A California couple and their 3-year-old son were found dead in an Airbnb while on vacation in Mexico
Jose Nunez Jr, his wife Maria Nunez and their 3-year-old son, Jayden Nunez, were on vacation in Mexico visiting relatives. The three were staying at an Airbnb when they were found dead in the same room.
According to Jose’s aunt, Trini Jacobo, other family members staying at the Airbnb were not injured. Jacobo says there are too many questions that need answering, leaving her and the family with no idea how the Nunez family died.
“They are still in Mexico and they are going to perform an autopsy and definitely get to the root of what caused their deaths. So, we’re not sure of any specific details at this time,” he said.
Jacobo says family and friends are in shock and that the couple was one of the nicest people you could meet.
He says grieving for his beloved nephew won’t be easy, but his memories will help him get through it.
“It’s a very good family. They’re both very family-oriented. Jose is probably, honestly, not just because he’s my nephew, but he’s one of the best parents I know,” she said.
“He’s in love with his family. He always hugs them, always hugs them.”
Right now, the family’s main focus is getting their loved ones back to California, Jacobo says.
“Right now we’re not worried about anything else.
We want our loved ones back in the United States. We want to know what happened to them, of course, but … right now, we’re focused on getting Jose, Maria and Jayden back home,” he said.
A GoFundMe has been set up to help raise money for transportation and funeral expenses. Nearly $12,000 has been raised. The couple also leaves four other children.
