A man murdered his wife and hid her body for two years
Elizabeth was married to Matthew Sullivan, a U.S.
Navy officer, who spent most of the year carrying out orders for his military unit.
They had met in 2010, but the relationship was ruined by the distance between the couple and Mathew’s jealousy. The man did not like Elizabeth having friends, fought with her and there were moments of violence.
Although the woman was a victim of abuse, the couple shared their residence in San Diego, although they sometimes slept away.
In October 2014, Elizabeth went missing. Matthew asked to look for her; the family did not understand how this mother had left her children abandoned.
The man did not call the case because he claimed she had abandoned him.
At the abatement, Mathew insisted that Elizabeth suffered from stress and sometimes used drugs. However, family members kept asking for information about the woman.
It was two years before the police made a frightening discovery.
The remains of a person who turned out to be Elizabeth were in San Diego Bay.
Forensics discovered that she had been stabbed several times.
The house where the couple lived was searched. Despite the time that had elapsed, police were able to solve the case.
They found Elizabeth and evidence that the body had been buried in the garage.
“I had motive. He had the means, the opportunity. The crime scene was in her bedroom. And the murder weapon was in her bedroom,” noted the prosecutor handling the case.
The crime is believed to have occurred while the children were asleep.
