Stephen Gibbs, a 45-year-old man, was jailed for 18 years on Monday for attempting to murder his partner, Emma Brown, 49, when she asked him for a divorce.
18 years in jail for stabbing his girlfriend 7 times when she asked him for a divorce after winning the lottery
The couple had been in a relationship for 12 years, but everything changed when Emma won the lottery in 2017. The woman won £5.5 million in the draw, so her life took a radical turn. That large amount of money meant that the woman could be totally independent from her partner, who frowned upon such a change.
Gibbs installed a tracking device in the woman’s new car to follow her every move around South Wales, where they lived, according to the Daily Mail.
Man stabbed his wife up to 7 times when she asked him for a divorce
The man accused his wife of being unfaithful with Mr. Mackenzie, 48, and repeatedly threatened to slit his partner’s throat. One night, the wife came home and Gibbs began jealously asking her where she had been.
When Emma told her husband that she wanted a divorce after months of arguing, Gibbs, accusing her of having an affair with another man, grabbed her by the throat, slammed her against the wall and broke her arm.
The aggression did not stop there, and the man grabbed a knife and kitchen knife and claimed he was going to cut his own throat. When the woman tried to stop him, Gibbs turned all his anger against her and began stabbing her up to seven times in the face.
The woman remembers lying on the patio floor in a pool of blood, thinking she was going to die.
For these events Gibbs was sentenced to 18 years in prison after he himself admitted that he had attempted to murder his ex-girlfriend.
