Walker Bethune, 17, of Macon, remains in the hospital following Saturday’s accident. The teen was on Marco Island when he was struck by lightning around 3:45 p.m., according to ABC-7, an ABC Channel 2 affiliate.

The station reported that his father, David, performed CPR before medics arrived and airlifted him to a Miami hospital.

The Macon community held a prayer vigil Sunday for Walker and his family at Stratford Academy.

“Pray for his medical team, for Walker’s strength and for his family’s support.

While much is unknown, we know Walker faces a battle in the coming days, weeks and months,” said Logan Bowlds, who heads the academy.

“His family has specifically asked me to ask for prayers for his heart and kidneys, which appear to have suffered some of the worst stresses in his accidents.”

As of Monday morning, there was no update on his condition.

Some report on how the boy is currently doing is expected in the next few hours.
