A teenage girl was raped in the sea by an attacker who threw her into the water after her ball landed near him on a day at the beach, police said.
15 year old girl ‘thrown into the sea and raped while playing ball
She had been playing a game with friends on Bournemouth’s busy beach on Sunday afternoon. According to the report, the teenager threw the ball to one of the group and then began talking to the victim. He then ‘pulled her deeper into the sea, where he reportedly raped her’, police said.
The incident occurred near the Oceanarium at around 3.30pm.
Detectives said the girl, 15, told the victim she was 17 and travelling to Birmingham.
They added that he is described as possibly of Pakistani descent and with tanned skin, between five feet seven inches tall and a slim but muscular build with short dark hair that was slicked back and appeared freshly cut.
Detective Inspector Wayne Seymour, of Dorset Police, said: ‘A full investigation into this incident is ongoing and we continue to support the victim as we carry out inquiries.
‘I know the beach was very busy on the day of the incident, so I would appeal to anyone who was in the area and witnessed what happened to come forward.
In addition, I would urge anyone who was on the beach in the vicinity of the Oceanarium to review any photographs or video footage taken to see if they have captured anything of relevance.
“I am particularly interested in speaking to anyone who recognizes the boy from the description given or saw him on the beach on Sunday, July 18.
