11-year-old boy with criminal history arrested for assault on elderly man
He may only be 11 years old, but California police say he is one of the suspects in the assault on an elderly Asian man and he has ample punishment.
The boy is one of two suspects who were arrested in last Saturday’s attack. Both are minors and are not identified as such; the other juvenile is 17 years old.
The victim, who is an 80-year-old Asian man, is unidentified.
In a video posted on social media, the elderly man can be heard crying for help as the two youths try to rip his fitbit fitness tracker from his arm.
As if hearing an 80-year old man cry out for help after getting knocked to the ground in San Leandro isn’t bad enough…
…the suspects are teens as young as 16 and you can hear one laughing loudly.

When the elderly man is crying, who is asking for help, laughter can be heard.
Police originally identified the suspects who are between 16 and 19 years old; ; they escaped in a blue Subaru. The victim suffered only minor injuries.
The suspects were taken into custody Wednesday afternoon.
“We are thankful that we were able to apprehend these young men safely and expeditiously” said the San Leandro Lt. Police Department.
Sources said the 11-year-old has an “extensive criminal history.” In addition, he was arrested on April 12 for carjacking.
The attack on the elderly Asian man was not the crime allegedly committed by the suspects last Saturday.
Just two hours earlier, police said the two suspects were involved in a separate incident on Wednesday, which involved an alleged robbery of a woman whose purse was taken.
The 11-year-old boy was released into the custody of his mother, sources said.
